These works are one of a kind photographic silkscreen prints on a variety of surfaces. Using collage techniques, the work incorporates uncontrolled but planned elements that emphasize the unpredictable within each work. Since they are not edition pieces, I think of the work more as paintings rather than prints. Some of the materials I work with include, glass, wood, Plexiglas, encaustic paint, shellac, pigment stick, powdered graphite, tea, coffee, rust, paprika powder, gold & silver leaf, and enamel paint. I also use color separation techniques with much of my work. Since I am focusing on distortion, I sometimes expose pieces to the weather, leaving them outside to deteriorate the surface and collect mold or discoloration, the pieces are then reassembled into finished works. Some of the works are printed in separate layers on very thin paper, each color on it's own substrate, and then assembled onto a panel or surface using encaustic medium. A few of the pieces are printed in negative on clear glass, and then reverse painted with a solid black background to reveal a positive image. The newer works are composed of separate elements collaged onto found glass.
